The knit generator simulates stockinette-stitch knitted fabric by drawing V-shaped stitch patterns in offset rows. Each stitch is rendered as a pair of angled lines with slight curvature, simulating how yarn crosses over itself at each stitch intersection. Every other row is offset by half a stitch width so adjacent rows interlock. A per-stitch colour variation simulates the subtle colour shifts in natural yarn. Optional cable patterns can be overlaid by modifying specific rows to follow different geometric arrangements.
stitchSize controls individual stitch dimensions. yarnTone and yarnVariance set colour. texturalIntensity controls how pronounced the V-shape is — higher values for rough hand-knit wool, lower for fine machine-knit cotton. pattern toggles between plain stockinette, rib, and cable variants.
Winter fashion product visualisation, home textile design (blankets, throws, socks), holiday-themed design backgrounds, craft and DIY content backgrounds, and cosy-feel web backgrounds for lifestyle brands.
Chunky hand-knit wool needs larger stitchSize and higher textural intensity — the V-shapes should be clearly visible. Fine machine-knit fabric (like a t-shirt) uses very small stitches that almost disappear into uniform colour. Cable patterns work best at moderate stitch sizes; too small and the cable becomes illegible. Variegated yarns can be simulated by cranking yarnVariance.
