How this texture was made

The plasma generator evaluates multiple sine and cosine waves at different scales and adds them together to produce the smooth, flowing, multi-coloured bands that the demoscene popularised in the 1990s. Each wave has its own frequency, amplitude, and phase, and the summed result is passed through a colour ramp that cycles through the full hue wheel.

• contrast is set to 0.1, which is at the low end — producing subtle, soft gradations
• scale is set to 3, which is high — producing a bold, large-scale pattern
